Robert P. Pinkas is the founding partner of Brantley. Previously, he led a venture development and investment firm and was the founding director/investor in many high growth businesses in both technology and service industries. Mr. Pinkas has also worked at McKinsey & Co. as a turnaround consultant and strategist for industrial firms and as an attorney at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, a Wall Street law firm with an emphasis on corporate finance. Mr. Pinkas has served on the Board of Directors on numerous private and public companies. Mr. Pinkas holds A.B. and A.M. degrees from Harvard University and a J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania.
Paul H. Cascio, General Partner
Paul H. Cascio has served as a general partner at Brantley since 1996. Previously, he was a managing director and head of the industrial manufacturing and services group in the corporate finance department at Dean Witter Reynolds Inc. Prior to joining Dean Witter in 1986, he was employed in the corporate finance department at E.F. Hutton & Company. Mr. Cascio has a wide range of investment banking experience having completed public debt and equity, private debt and equity, mergers and acquisitions and fairness opinion assignments for a variety of industrial, consumer product and health care related companies. He is a member of various Boards of Directors. Mr. Cascio has a B.A. from Colgate University and a M.B.A. from the New York University Graduate School of Business Administration.
Michael J. Finn, General Partner
Michael J. Finn joined Brantley in 1995 bringing with him 18 years of private equity and small-cap public equity investment experience. Mr. Finn began his investment career in 1976 when he launched Forward Development Corporation, one of the first SBA sponsored Small Business Development Corporations in Michigan . In 1983 he led the creation of the Venture Capital Group at the State of Michigan Department of Treasury. Since 1987, as Vice President of Sears Investment Management Co., Mr. Finn developed and led a very successful direct investment portfolio that focused on a variety of growth capital and consolidation situations in software, proprietary databases, and health care companies. He was also directly responsible for a small-cap public investment portfolio concentrating on post venture public companies. Mr. Finn is a member of the Board of Directors of various public and private companies. He has a B.S. and M.S. from Michigan State University.
James R. Bergman, General Partner
James R. Bergman was a founder and general partner of DSV Partners III and IV and their predecessors. Over the last 30 years, DSV provided capital and management assistance to emerging companies whose focus was primarily in technologies associated with electronics, communications, biotechnology and health care. Mr. Bergman has been involved in the early funding of a number of technology companies, led investments in data communications, semiconductors, computer peripherals, and advanced technology areas, and most recently, focused on investments involving consolidation strategies in various technology-based industries. He has served on the Board of Directors of more than 30 companies. He was also a director of the National Venture Capital Association from 1985 to 1990. Mr. Bergman has a B.S. and a M.B.A. from the University of California at Los Angeles.
Kevin J. Cook, General Partner
Kevin J. Cook joined Brantley in 1996 and is responsible for all aspects of sourcing, evaluating, supporting and managing Brantley's investments. Mr. Cook is a member of the board of directors of various private companies. Prior to joining Brantley, Mr. Cook was an associate at Brown, Gibbons, Lang & Company, a Cleveland-based investment banking firm serving middle market companies with revenue between $10 million and $50 million. While at Brown, Gibbons, he assisted clients with private placements of debt and equity and merger and acquisition advisory services. Mr. Cook holds a B.A. from the University of Virginia and a M.B.A. from Cleveland State University.
Curtis Witchey, Chief Financial Officer
Curtis Witchey joined Brantley as Controller and acting Chief Financial Officer in 2005. Before joining Brantley, Mr. Witchey was an independent financial consultant for Five Star Technologies. Mr. Witchey was also the corporate controller for Glastic Corporation in 2004 and the controller for ComparisonMarket, Inc., a startup firm, from 2001 to 2003.
Adam D. Bentkover, Associate
Adam D. Bentkover has served as an associate at Brantley since 2008. Previously, he was an associate with Audax Group, completing leveraged buy-outs and equity and debt recapitalizations in the media, diversified industrials, manufacturing, technology and business services industries. Prior to joining Audax in 2005, he was an analyst in the industrials investment banking team at Citigroup in London. Mr. Bentkover has completed various investment banking transactions including public and private debt and equity offerings and mergers and acquisitions. He is a member of the Board of Directors of ISCC, LLC and Jet LithoColor, Inc. Mr. Bentkover has a B.A. from Colby College and has attended the London School of Economics.
